The village is located near Ballymahon Longford, Ireland and the 400 acre former Newcastle Wood has been transformed by Ireland’s largest ever tourism and hospitality investment.
The 233 million euro scheme provides 466 lodges, 30 apartments and 250,000 square feet of leisure activity space, retail and food and beverage offers together with Ireland’s largest leisure pool, the Sub-tropical Swimming paradise and Ireland’s largest spa, the Aqua Sana.
Edmond Shipway led the scheme from inception, through planning and appeal, handled all the procurement and managed all aspects of the construction work from initial tree felling to final handover of all buildings, on time and on budget.
Edmond Shipway also acted as Mechanical and Electrical Engineers managing all aspects of the services design and installation.
During the two-year construction the project created over 750 jobs. Now operational a further 1,000 permanent jobs have been created in County Longford. The resort provides a €32m annual boost to Ireland’s economy; adding an estimated €1 billion to GDP in the first 20 years. A truly transformational project.
