Kingswood Preparatory School and Nursery, Bath

Edmond Shipway was the Cost Consultant for the Kingswood School building project, which was designed by Stonewood Design. The project involved the construction of a new building at the independent co-educational boarding and day school in Bath, Somerset, England. The building has a gross internal floor area of 2,200 square meters and cost £5.8 million to construct. The buildings are made from cross laminated timber panels, which are a quick, clean, and quiet construction method. The timber is exposed internally to create a sense of calm. The exterior is clad with Western Red Cedar shingles and tactile brick. The building includes classrooms for years 5 and 6, music, art, technology, and design facilities, and a school hall. The spaces are acoustically calm with woodfibre acoustic boards, high performance acoustic doors, and retractable screens.
