Ulster Museum
The Ulster Museum comprises 12,800 square metres of galleries with rich collections of art, archaeology, local history and natural sciences.
The Museum also has a constantly changing programme of temporary exhibitions and events. The Museum is located on a prominent site within Botanic Park with the original Edwardian Building facing the Stranmillis Road. Edmond Shipway were appointed as Cost Consultants for the £15m refurbishment and opening of the Museum. This project, a landmark listed building, was a major investment for the Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland MAGNI and involved the provision of a new entrance to the Museum and an orientation gallery together with the refurbishment of the education facility, shop, café, lecture theatre and the exhibition spaces.
An important aspect of the scheme is the design and installation of new exhibitions within the science and natural history departments. The project nvolved the decanting of existing artefacts and their return when the main project works were completed.
In addition to our standard cost management service we provided assistance in the preparation of funding documentation, advice on procurement strategies, risk analysis and a cost planning service, in addition to complying with the excellence in construction initiative and participating in the Design Quality Process.
