Urban Regeneration
We are providing Project Management, Cost Consultancy and M&E services to Clegg Developments Limited and Cambridgeshire County Council for the £35m regeneration of Huntingdon Town Centre.
Phase One of the project involved the construction of new County Council offices with a Combined Justice Centre, and the refurbishment of historical Walden House being converted to 6 residential apartments. This part of the project returned the 17th century property back to residential use as it was previously used as council offices. There were significant Listed Building and conservation issues which involved months of specialist work to conserve some of the external features of the Grade II Listed building.
The office element of this Mixed-Use scheme is naturally ventilated, and BREEAM Very Good was achieved. Detailed thermal modelling resulted in a concrete frame solution that uses the mass of the structure to cool the ambient air. This innovative solution has returned a significantly cheaper and environmentally responsible design than the more traditional air conditioned solution.
Subsequent phases have seen the delivery of quality residential accommodation and a new community library.
