West Midlands Police

We were appointed to provide Cost Consultancy services to West Midlands Police for an extension to an existing police station at Stechford in Birmingham.

The three storey extension includes locker rooms, training offices, dog kennels, archive and storage area, property storage area, photographic studio and self defence training unit.

In addition to the extension, significant external works were also undertaken entailing reconfiguration of the existing area to provide new site access and parking facilities. Our role included preparation of budget costs and associated cost control throughout the design process, management of tender process and post contract cost control.

Significant challenges have been posed by the need to keep the existing station fully operational throughout the construction period requiring careful planning and phasing of the works.

We have been involved in a Value Engineering exercise due to an increase in the scope of works. We were able to advice on alternative design options to ensure the project remained within budget.
